Hi, I'm Julia
My cookie journey began 13 years ago while living in Kenya, where you couldn’t simply buy the things you needed off the shelf. If you wanted something, you made it - properly, from basic ingredients. That’s where I learned that “from scratch” isn’t just a method; it’s a mindset. It’s honesty, intention, and creating something with your own hands.
When my daughter turned five, I wanted pretty cookies for her birthday. I couldn’t find any, so I Googled a recipe and made them myself - and that small moment became the start of everything. Over the years I’ve refined that original vanilla sugar cookie recipe into something my customers genuinely love. It’s simple, but it’s delicious, and it matters deeply to me that every cookie tastes as good as it looks.
Today, back in Johannesburg, Julia’s Bakes From Scratch is my way of sharing that philosophy. Every cookie is made with quality ingredients, care, and the same from scratch spirit that shaped my baking in Kenya. Beautiful to look at, memorable to eat, and always made with love.
